Other tasks from day 73:
- Trevor installed pipe in the footing trench around the perimeter of the home. Garden hose valves and future irrigation lines can tee into this pipe.
- I installed waterproofing tape around the exterior of the 1st story window openings. This layer helps protect the window framing if water gets behind the exterior plaster.
- Justin installed drip caps on the 2 small sliding patio doors. This piece of sheet metal directs water away from the top of the door.

Mike,
I am curious why you have used plywood vs. drywall on the wall visible in the picture. Are you going to put something decorative on the wall (stone/tile) and you need a more solid backing? Also, I noticed that you have used traditonal plywood as opposed to waferboard/chipboard which uses recycled wood? Any reason. Nice looking place I would like to visit next year.
Joe
Joe,
This is a shear wall and requires plywood to provide the shear carrying capability. It will have sheetrock installed over it. It is the same story with the roof sheathing. Chipboard is not acceptable for carrying the shear force. Thanks for the comment. Plan your visit anytime.
